Course Description :

Faculty of Information Management was set up in 2003 and offers studies in the field of management.

Studies are offered in two modes:

  • full-time (day) studies, 7 semesters (in Polish and in English)
  • part-time (weekend) studies, 8 semesters (only in Polish).

Students of Information Management learn how to apply a variety of IT tools which aid management effectively and acquire proficiency in using information systems in modern enterprises. Upon graduation, they earn the degree of Engineer (BSc) of Information Management.

Students can choose one of the following specialisations:

  • Project management
  • Systems supporting management decision-making
  • Business analytics
  • IT systems implementation
  • E-commerce

The curriculum comprises subjects related to management, economics and information technology. Special emphasis is put on skills of managing modern enterprises and projects, as well as solving various problems encountered in organisations, and requiring both 'hard' and 'soft' skills.

Students learn how to use available IT, material and financial resources. They master techniques of decision making, improving business processes and innovative deployment of ICT in management.

What makes our graduates special is the fact that apart from the theoretical knowledge in IT, management and economics, they possess practical skills gained during classes in laboratories equipped with sophisticated hardware and  software, for example an integrated SAP ERP system and SAP CRM. The former is a tool for company management, the latter helps manage client relations. During tutorials we stress practical competencies, for example accounting tasks are solved using the Symfonia system, management classes are based on case studies. While doing projects, students acquire not only professional skills but also the skill of thinking in terms of systems, which is useful in solving complex problems. They gain team work skills and competency in promoting innovation in a modern enterprise.

Graduates can continue their studies at PJAIT's Faculty of Information Technology, especially the MSc specialisations related to using IT tools in management.

Graduates find employment as managers, especially project managers and process/product engineers, and as specialists participating in the design and implementation of information systems in management. They are well prepared to work in all types of commercial enterprises, financial institutions and administration - in all workplaces where the results depend on the efective use of information and high qualifications of people analysing and processing information.

Graduates are well-prepared to set up their own businesses.
